I can’t believe Luis from The Soft Moon is gone…I’ll always treasure this picture with him.

I first started listening to The Soft Moon in 2015 and I immediately was blown away by their sound. ‘Zeros’ was the first song I heard and I couldn’t get enough. Ever since then, I was hoping for the opportunity to catch them live and it wasn’t until November 2022 that I finally had the opportunity to see them. Hands down, one of the most energetic shows I’ve ever been to. Luis knew how to move a crowd. His music was incredible, I hope everyone takes the moment to listen to this band if they haven’t, we lost a great one today. 🥀

Someone removed “Horror punk, Deathrock” from the genre sections of 45 Grave related wikipedia pages, and replaced it with Gothic rock.

Has the meaning of what’s considered goth music changed from generation to generation?

For context, I am Gen Z

When I talk to my dad (who would be considered somewhere between a boomer and Gen X) about bands like The Sisters of Mercy, who would indisputably be called goth today (even if they don't identify themselves as such, haha), he argues that they aren't. I know goth in the 70s was originally called post-punk or new wave, which is what he calls it, but if that's the case, then what would someone his age think of as goth? I'm interested in how the meaning of the word has changed, and also would love to learn the history of the genre, including the things that once might have been called "goth", but now might not be labelled as such. I'm especially interested in perspectives from older goths, as, like I mentioned, I'm pretty young and only got into the scene around 6-8 months ago.

Thanks!! 🖤

Memory from childhood

I just remembered I'd sometimes put a Christian Death tape in my sister's Teddy Ruckspin(Ruxpin?) doll and it'd be opening and closing its mouth while music came out. Good memory.

Any goth bands from Spain?

I used to had a cd 16 yrs ago, that someone made me called “siniestro goth” with bands from Spain singing in Spanish, not sure if it was made by them or an actual compilation, I’m trying to find the songs from that playlist since I really liked those songs, I listened to that cd so much that it probably got really scratched and I think I lost it unfortunately. It had parálisis permanente and bands similar sounding.

Can anyone give me some recommendations to see if maybe I can find the songs? lol :((
